Most people think of football season when they think of Color Guard. What many don't realize is that the Color Guard is just as active after the season is over, when they compete as the Winter Guard.
Winter Guard performed all day on March 7 at Madison High School. The 19-person Varsity team performed at 7 a.m. and earned third place.
The 18-person JV team also performed. In addition, the floor crew, which consists of 8 people, helped set up the floor. After that they dance, pick up the flags, and have solos, then spin a riffle or a flag.
Each group has their own specific outfit that makes the performance even more special. “Guard can be hard and takes dedication, but it’s all worth it in the end” junior Lilian Rodriguez said.
Winter Guard will compete again on Saturday at Wagner High School.
