BY JESSICA BROWN Sharon M. Draper takes you into the brilliant, sarcastic mind of eleven year old Melody Brooks. And as I read Out of my Mind, I found myself staring at each word waiting for what would happen next. The book was unquestionably fantastic, both in the characters and the story itself. While I was reading this I became surprised at myself, because I don’t normally read this kind of genre, but I found myself glued to the pages. I thought the book was remarkably written and I recommend it to anyone who loves to read. Out of my Mind is about Melody Brooks, a young girl who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, but that does not allow her condition to limit the brilliance of her mind. Draper allows you to see the world through Melody’s mind, and every minute of the book is engrossed in Melody’s personality. Out of my Mind truly is a book that everyone will cherish for years to come. |
