Superbowl XLIX halftime show was good, but not great. Katy Perry had big shoes to fill because of the past two performers from superbowl 2013 and 2014 (Beyoncé - 2013, Bruno Mars - 2014).
The stage was very busy with lights, mascots and giant tigers oh my! (no reference intended, i swear. okay... maybe).
Perry's vocals, though not all there, they were stable. Bringing out a "throwback" artist -- Missy Elliot -- made up for the lack of a voice 100%. Don't get me wrong, she has the ability to wow an audience with spontaneous prop and outfit changes. But it just wasn't enough.
Also, there were dancing sharks, which was terrible. They didn't have any set choreography, so it was disorganized.
Overall, Katy needs to work on her voice and her performance goals before she plays another Super Bowl. I don't think it will hurt her career (or her bank account) to pass on the game next time.
