At Metzger Middle School, wide receiver Tremaine Price dove right into playing football. The rivalry between Metzger and Kirby Middle School, both part of Judson ISD, made it that much more interesting.
"The rivalry was exciting because my team always won, but also intense because of the extent of the rivalry," Price said.
At Kirby Middle School, Jecorey Walker was known in the hallways just as well as on the field. Walker was an outstanding defender with a love for his secondary defense position. Knowing that he was a key factor of Kirby middle school defense, it was important to him to win the rivalry games between Kirby and Metzger. "The game was very intense and exciting because you played with teams who you knew would be your 'rivals' in the future," Walker said.
At Wagner High School, despite three years of middle school rivalry, junior Tremaine Price and senior Jecorey Walker, former enemies, beame close friends. In fact, they like to think of each other as brothers.
Ultimately, Walker says, he's glad that he and Price came together to play for Wagner. "Even though the middle schools' football programs managed to be almost the same, Wagner's ended up being faster paced and more professional," Walker said. "I am and always have been a leader."
And where Walker leads, Price follows. "Jecorey is my big brother and mentor," Price said. "I plan to play with him forever."
